 Keeping untreated sewage out of Texas lakes is one of the biggest contributions boaters can make to local water quality... and it's the law. Help keep Texas lakes clean through proper disposal of boater sewage. Our pumpout boat allows sewage to be removed from a boat and then disposed of through established treatment procedures.
Improving water quality in the Dallas area is a top priority and the navigable waters have been a "No Discharge Zone" for more than two years. This federal designation, initiated by city officials, requires all boaters to store their "black water" sewage in a holding tank to be pumped out. The discharge of sewage from any vessel in any Texas lake is prohibited. The goal of the "Pump Out, Don't Dump Out!" Boater Education Program is to protect the environment by reducing the potential for any boat sewage discharges into Texas waterways.
Many products sold to boaters harm the environment. So we've moved aggressively towards using products that reduce negative impacts to marine wildlife. Ship Shape Services is aware of the very real threats to the environment; we are committed to the best possible boat maintenance practices. Each crew member is trained to follow procedures which respect the environment during the cleaning process. Whenever possible, we avoid the use of cleaning products completely and those products we use conform to worldwide environmental regulations and are ecologically safe with a neutral pH, phosphate free and non-pollutants. They are heavily diluted when washed off and are biodegradable. We try to minimize the quantities of cleaning products used.
Water is a precious resource often taken for granted. We don't. We don't use power washers... we do everything by hand. We are proud to recycle product containers, paper/cardboard, equipment and other items rather than dump them in the garbage.
In our office, we try to print as little a possible. When we do have to print, we use recycled paper and guarantee that none of our batteries or printer cartridges will go to a landfill. We meet our regulatory requirements and, where possible, go beyond them. We promote environmental improvements by working together with employees, suppliers, regulators, industry and the public. We try to conserve natural resources and minimize the environmental impact of waste and energy consumption by encouraging our employees, suppliers and customers to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. We communicate the results of our environmental performance internally and externally on a regular basis.
